Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
This is not very clear, and we are not explained how teams are structured. I had no idea what my next position would be or what it was called. This needs to be made clearer. The competency framework was released very late into the grad program, and it was not developed to facilitate how we can progress in our roles and what we need to achieve to make this happen. I do take into account that we are the first cohort that are taking part in this program, and it will improve. However, it has been very frustrating and demotivating.

In site engineering the promotions are quite linear. The more experience and the more you prove why you are a good engineer, the better the outlook on moving up the ranks in the construction industry.

In acciona as a graduate engineer i have great career progression opportunities, following the completion of my graduate role i can progress onto a site engineer role. Following this i can move to project engineer, senior project engineer, Area manager, Construction manager and higher if i wanted.

I would say as an employee at Acciona for 2.5 years, it feels like there hasn't been much flexibility to review individual cases of employees who have gone through the undergraduate and graduate program. Particularly as a mature age student who has had previous work experience.

Graduates will take around 2 years to be promoted.

Unsure as of yet - need to fill out graduate competencies but it seems even if I am deemed competent on paper I may not be promoted earlier than the graduate program specifies
Graduate, Perth - 09 Nov 2023
I would say I'm satisfied with the progression opportunities and eventuation, but I would like more proactivity in starting talks for these opportunities. I often need to begin conversations surrounding career progression and promotions so that it actually occurs.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Nov 2023
AS said previously, the promotion opportunities or requirement to gain promotion aren't clearly defined

As acciona is growing I feel like I can grow with the company

I believe that at Geotech the company fast tracks and upskills you more than most companies

Promotion opportunities to site engineer then to project engineer
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Nov 2023
Opportunities need to be asked for and sought out, are not advertised nor are they discussed. Promotion process could be improved.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Nov 2023
Not sure right now as I've only just started
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
The graduate program is great but I personally feel as though it is too long and that I've progressed past this role and title, but as the program is a fixed term there is no real opportunity to be promoted
Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Karara - 06 Nov 2023
Promotion and progression in the company seems reasonable. They highlight the path and is based on merit. I have not been promoted yet but the general path is: Graduate Engineer > Site Engineer > Project Engineer > Senior Project Engineer Alternatively, an engineer can pivot into management with enough site experience if they prefer the corporate side of things.

I think the training program is well-organized, but individuals need to be proactive to seek for their goals.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Nov 2023
My one piece of feedback in this space is that it is very difficult to move up in the ranks as a graduate. Previously, we have had to stay in the program for a full two years before we can be considered for a promotion. This system is changing and I think that is a move in the right direction.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Nov 2023
I think you just have to display that you have fully completed the competencies which are applicable to your role and then the promotion occurs. I am yet to finish the grad program so I am not too familiar with the promotion process.
Graduate, Melbourne - 23 Oct 2023
Good opportunity for promotion.
