Generally I work from 8:30 to 5:30. But the flexibility means if I have an appointment I can dip out in the middle of the day and make up those hours.

Usually my work hours are 40 hours per week, however during certain projects they can be between 50-55 hours. It is possible to take time in lieu though. Our team is flexible with hours as long as you make up the time.

The flexibility is great, good working from home options and the trust to work irregular hours is great. Sometimes you are expected to work overtime if you have a hard deadline and there is no formal process to recognise this.

Hours are pretty good during the quiet periods but as soon as it gets busy, it's almost a requirement to work over the 40 hours. Time in lieu, while is offered, is rarely taken due to amount of work that accumulates during the busy periods.

I find that I work best during the early hours of the day, and in this sense, the flexible working hours have been beneficial to foster my productivity. As I am working in a project office at the moment, my hours can vary from day to day - generally starting at 7am and leaving anywhere from 3:30pm onwards. I feel I have the freedom to leave whenever I need to, so long as I'm hitting 40 hours per week.

The hours I work are up to me (in the sense that I tackle my contracted hours) and my team will support me if I am feeling at risk of overtime and help me manage so I do not fall into the trap of working overtime often or at all. Work life balance is a goal for my team

AECOM is flexible when it comes to working hours. Team leaders understand that life happens and are very accommodating. It is very much a relationship of operating in good faith, and I have found that when I am honest and upfront, I have always been supported and able to come to a solution that works for my manager and myself.
