Your role

Join Atlassian as an intern and spend your summer with them having an impact on how millions of users collaborate and use software.

You will report to a manager in the AI Experience team within the broader Central AI group. The team is tasked to improve the quality of AI features across Atlassian’s products, focused on the AI editor and summarisation experiences. The team consists of ML engineers and back-end software engineers, and partners with platform and front-end engineering teams. As a Machine Learning Intern, you will:

  • Focus on AI/ML applications and ideas for new generative AI experiences
  • Build/fine-tune machine learning models to assess AI response quality and create new experiences
  • Can translate business problems into technical solutions
  • Have experience writing software with minimal bugs in Python or Java
  • Have experience with SQL (Bonus!)

About you

This program is open to penultimate-year university students with Australian citizenship or Permanent Residency, or New Zealand citizenship. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. The internship dates are late November 2024 to late February 2025, full-time for 12 weeks.

Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program (Master's degree preferred) and returning to the program after the completion of the internship, graduating by January 2026.
  • This can be a remote position.
