Your role 

The Air Force needs the right people with the right skills in the right numbers to maintain optimum capability and operate effectively. In this senior human resources role, you'll be responsible for supporting that need. 

In this diverse and challenging career, you’ll be responsible for the welfare of personnel, as well as maintaining and organising them. Wherever the Air Force deploys, you’ll be one of the first on the ground, managing human resources. 

Some of the roles you may perform as part of this role include: 

Staff Officer Personnel, which includes a wide variety of responsibilities such as human resource case management, information and knowledge management, corporate communication, budgeting, reporting and governance tasks.  

Personnel Operations, where you identify, prepare and support personnel from across the Air Force and wider Australian Defence Force to deploy on operations. 

You may also be involved in: 

Strategic Communication, where you plan and execute communication strategies.  

Workforce Development and Review, where you’re responsible for effecting organisational change. 

On top of this, as an Air Force Officer you’ll be trained to become an inspirational leader and mentor; adept at effectively communicating with, and managing teams, with a comprehensive knowledge of Air Force attitudes, values and military protocols and procedures. 

Salary 

This is your opportunity to be paid a competitive salary as you study at the university of your choice. Not to mention, you’ll receive other benefits like rental allowance, textbook reimbursement and assistance with your HELP fees. 

Upon commencing the program, your salary will be between $35,326 - $54,166 plus 16.4% superannuation depending on the completion status of your course. 

On completion of your degree and initial training, you could earn $85,051 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation. 

Location 

Upon completion of your training in Victoria and New South Wales, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia such as RAAF Base Amberley, RAAF Base Darwin or RAAF Base Tindal.

To be eligible to apply for an Air Force undergraduate sponsorship, you must be an Australia citizen, over 17 at the time of enlistment and have been accepted into a university offering an eligible full-time undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management, Business Studies, Finance or Accounting. 

You must also be able to obtain a security clearance and meet the minimum medical and fitness requirements.
