About the Australian Digital Health Agency

Here at the Australian Digital Health Agency, we’re a Federal Government Agency, responsible for national digital health services and systems. You may not have heard of us, but you’ve definitely heard of our initiatives and programs, My Health Record, e-Prescriptions & Telehealth.

Last year we received a significant investment from the Australian Government to support the ongoing operation of the Australian Digital Health Agency to continue delivering digital health infrastructure and upgrading My Health Record.

Right now, our focus is on putting data and technology safely to work for patients, consumers and the health care professionals who look after them. To do this to the best of our ability, we need to build capability in our workforce and invest in the next generation of innovators, leaders, and difference makers. We want that to take form in our 2025 Graduate Cohort.

“Technology can contribute to closing the gap by improving health care accessibility, quality and safety no matter where people live.” – Amanda Cattermole, CEO

Your New Role

Are you ready to enrich your understanding of digital initiatives that impact the lives of fellow Australians? Join the Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) as a Digital Graduate. In this role, you’ll get the chance to enhance your skills and work on projects suited to your studies and interests. Here’s what to expect:

  • Structured Development: During the 12-month graduate development program, you’ll be engaged at the APS4 level. As a Digital Graduate, you’ll undertake 3-4 rotations where you will be exposed to real, relevant, and practical projects that will enrich your experience with us with a focus on building your technical capabilities and understanding. In the digital stream, your role will support the delivery and operation of digital platforms and systems that improve government service delivery for the Australian community. You may work on a range of projects and tasks like building innovative solutions to deliver easy to use digital health services, implementing cyber security and ensuring infrastructure and software is up to date and secure.
  • Real-World Experience: Work on real, relevant, and practical projects. Collaborate with stakeholders, learn from dedicated supervisors and mentors, and explore diverse areas within the Digital Health Landscape.
  • Career Progression: Upon successful completion of the program, you’ll be well-prepared to transition to the APS5 level. Our Graduate Development Program equips you with the skills needed to excel in your role and make a meaningful impact. We have a very strong focus on ensuring you’re set up for a long career with us, with clear lines of career progression.
  • Foundational Training: The program also includes training to build your foundational knowledge of the Australian Public Service (APS) and government systems. You’ll gain insights into the intricacies of the digital ecosystem. You’ll also receive a Digital Profession and Australian Computer Society (ACS) membership.

What You Can Look Forward To

As a Digital Graduate at ADHA, you'll get to further develop your digital talent, gain valuable industry experience, and contribute to meaningful projects that help everyone. Here’s what our program offers:

  • Supervisor Support: Your dedicated supervisor will guide you through day-to-day tasks, provide valuable feedback, and help you understand how your work contributes to our goals. Whether your expertise lies in technical problem solving, analytics, digital design or development, there's an opportunity to suit your skill, experience, and interests. We’re committed to making sure you get exposure to meaningful projects and gain the skills you’re interested in developing.
