What you’ll do  

At the ATO, we strive to design solutions that turn problems upside down, building cutting-edge systems that engage, and make it easier to do the right thing. As a Taxation graduate, you’ll get an opportunity to manage and shape the tax and superannuation systems by helping people understand their rights and obligations or managing areas of non-compliance with the law.  

You will get the opportunity to experience a range of client engagement activities including:  

  • Provide expertise and technical knowledge of relevant policy, procedures, legislation and frameworks to resolve moderately complex to complex issues based on a range of client information or circumstances
  • Conduct and/or support a range of client engagement activities including early engagements, verification, risk reviews, audits and advice in relation to client obligations and determine appropriate assurance actions
  • Liaise with clients or their intermediaries on sensitive issues in a professional manner to influence outcomes, to obtain information and provide advice, including early engagement, education and support, through multi-channels and digital environments
  • Review and research business processes or services to provide and implement recommendations to achieve more efficient outcomes
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of projects, strategies and initiatives that support and deliver assurance
  • Conduct quality assurance activities and develop and implement appropriate strategies to address findings largely governed by established guidelines and procedures

Who can apply 

To be eligible to apply, you must have completed your university degree within the last five years or be in your final year of study. At the time of commencing our program, you must have completed all your course requirements.  

The program starts in February 2025. You must be an Australian citizen and willing to undergo police, character and health checks as required.
