Your role

As a Legal Graduate, you will be responsible for providing a full range of legal support to all business units at Bank of Sydney. Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, duties are varied including:

  • Provision of effective and timely advice to all lines of business by analyzing legislative & regulatory compliance requirements;
  • Contributing to the enhancement of internal policies and frameworks
  • Remaining up to date on APRA, ASIC, AFCA, and ATO Standards, Guidelines and Legislation, conducting assessments and gap analysis on proposed changes/developments and providing recommendations to the greater legal team on how these are best translated into BOS’s policies and procedures
  • Assisting in the preparation of agendas for internal and group committee meetings and as required attending such committee meetings as minutes secretary
  • Assist the greater legal team in managing the Bank’s Internal Dispute Resolution Process (IDRP)
  • Assisting and contributing to the development and delivery of legal training to appropriate staff across the Bank.

About you

Bank of Sydney is seeking someone who has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law (or in the final stages of completing your studies)
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislative and non-legislative material (including Acts, Regulations, Codes, Standards, policies and procedures)
  • Prior exposure to deceased estates/powers of attorney would be advantageous
  • Ability to take ownership of issues and see them through to resolution, implementation and completion with minimal supervision;
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Committed and enthusiastic team contributor
