Your role

This Graduate, Investment and Project Finance position is an opportunity for a graduate to join The CIMIC Group Graduate Program, a two-year program focused on developing future leaders, providing graduates with on-the-job training, structured learning in their discipline, and exposure to a global business.

The graduate will gain experience working at different levels in the CIMIC Group and develop an understanding of many of the key functions and processes undertaken within Finance at each level.

Located in Sydney, the role responsibilities will include: 

  • Support the Investment and Project Finance Director and CFO on infrastructure transactions with a focus on greenfield infrastructure, PPPs and renewable energy projects.
  • Financial analysis, financial modelling, counterparty creditworthiness assessment, investment screening and approvals, due diligence, and bid submission.
  • Project management and supporting debt arranging, equity arranging and origination of infrastructure transactions. 
  • Develop strategies and screen opportunities in new sectors and asset classes.
  • Provide rigorous and reliable financial analysis.
  • Build, utilize and review financial models for M&A and project finance transactions.
  • Investment screening and approvals.
  • Bid development and transaction execution.

Training, development & rotation

The Program consists of two twelve-month rotations. Graduates will enter the program working for one of the CIMIC Group Operating Companies; CIMIC, CPB Contractors, Leighton Asia, Thiess, Pacific Partnerships or EIC Activities and have the potential opportunity to rotate between companies. Their Graduate Program provides structured, on-the-job training, guided learning plans and leadership mentoring for graduates as they transition to experienced professionals.

About you

The minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Tertiary Degree (Bachelor level) qualifications in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Commerce, Maths or Science. Double degree or additional post-graduate studies is highly regarded. 
  • Very strong numeric and financial modelling capabilities, including model building
  • Previous debt and/or equity finance raising experience is preferable  
  • Previous exposure to the infrastructure, construction or engineering sectors in a relevant capacity is desirable
  • Infrastructure sponsor/equity, project finance banking, financial advisory, debt arranging or infrastructure funds management experience well-regarded
  • Commercial acumen - understanding of the commercial framework applicable to project finance and other financial transactions
  • Evident communication, relationship building (internal and external) and influencing capabilities
  • Decision-making skills and solutions-driven approach
  • Demonstrable transaction execution/implementation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly motivated and driven to learn and contribute to the business.
