6:00 AM

The alarm blares at 6.30 AM. Time to throw on my workout clothes, grab my work bag and clothes that I have packed, and head to the gym. Preparing everything I need the night before ensures I don’t forget anything in the morning!

6.50 AM

Today, I just have enough time to squeeze in a quick workout before catching the train into the city. Completing my morning gym session helps me work and feel better throughout the day.

8.05 AM

It is an easy commute when you get a view like this!

I like to read and check the news/social media during my ½ hour train ride to the city.

8.45 AM

I arrive at Flinders Street Station and only have a short 5-minute walk to the office. 

Glad to see they have rolled out the red carpet for my entry to work today!

8.55 AM

Connect my laptop to my monitor and begin checking any important updates via email or Teams. Here comes the Teams notification that my engagement’s morning check-in has been started. I scramble to throw my Air Pods in and say good morning to the team!

9.30 AM

Meeting Complete. It's time for coffee!

Luckily, our Melbourne office has many great coffee shops nearby, so I can scoot out with my oversized Escient keep cup and be back in no time.

11.00 AM

Today, I am interviewing client stakeholders to assess their role in the business and what kinds of problems they may run into daily within the scope of our project. I love this part of my job as I can talk and meet new people who are passionate about their work and business and simply want improvement within their organisation.

12.30 PM

Lunchtime! Here Michellle and I are heading out to some great local places for our lunch. Today, I went and got sushi from my go-to place. ($2.50 a handroll is an absolute bargain) Also, it is a great opportunity to get some fresh air and reset during the middle of the day.

1.30 PM

As a Graduate Consultant at Escient, I get to complete and present a case study with my team to our ELT. Right now, I am polishing off our slide deck and reviewing the financial spreadsheet so that the presentation and supporting evidence are as clear as possible.

2.30 PM

I have a fortnightly catch-up scheduled with my mentor. We discuss how I am tracking my current engagement and other development goals that I am striving to achieve. I find this support beneficial in checking in and seeing how I am going.

3.30 PM

To finish the day, I am working on finding and constructing artefacts/models that are useful for the team to use to depict the client’s current state. The challenge here is to find a model that contains the right level of detail best to demonstrate current issues/problems within the organisation.

4.00 PM

A quick afternoon break to play catch in our dog-friendly office!

5.15 PM

We have fortnightly casual Friday drinks with a range of other offices in our building. This is a great way to connect with others socially and unwind after a week of work. Pictured is the Escient team toasting another working week!

7.00 PM

It's time to catch the train and walk home after a full-on day at work. I like to switch off and listen to music to unwind on the way home. I'm excited for the weekend ahead, but I'm also grateful for an engaging and fulfilling workday in the office.
