Maggie Ung

Towards the end of the day I get time to work on projects! Every week I am assigned a different one. It could be related to social media content, competitor analysis, or website design auditing.

6.00 AM

I give myself 30 minutes after waking up to mentally prepare myself for the day. I would stretch a bit, play with and feed my two cats' breakfast, and scroll on my phone before I get ready.

6.30 AM

I eventually get up to freshen up, do my skincare (and make up if I feel like it that day) and brush my hair. I normally just spontaneously put together a random outfit — always got a warm jacket and scarf on! I tend to skip breakfast and just pack my bag with the essentials — water bottle, lunch, and headphones.

7.00 AM

I live 5 minutes from the nearest train, so I drive up and park in the designated lot (if I am lucky because it gets packed very quick). I take the train and get to Flinders Street Station and transfer to get to Glenferrie Station. I normally get to Glenferrie Station early, so I like to take detours and explore the area as I have never been to Glenferrie/Hawthorn.

8.30 AM

The team greet me kindly every morning and I automatically do the same. I get to my desk and set up my laptop, take out my water bottle, have my folder with the week outline, notebook and pen ready. Lillie would greet me and let me settle down before giving me the agenda for the day.

8.45 AM

I immediately check the Marketing Trello board, check my emails, and go through the feedback on the tasks I did that Lillie has given feedback on. Then update my personal Trello board with the agenda for the day.

9.00 AM

Before uploading candidates to Top Talent Database on the website, I double check the Top Talent Database Goals spreadsheet to see which sector and state I should focus more on. I will select 10 candidates for the week, add and rewrite sections of the candidate’s information in Applyflow, then upload to the website! Always double-checking how it looks for the front end.

10.00 AM

With the candidates I have uploaded to the website, it is time to create social media content. In Canva, I make sure to apply the brand guidelines and include the essential information about the candidates. After inserting the content, I copy the share link into a card on Trello and move it to Lillie’s column to review. After I get her approval on the review, I can send it to team leaders to post on their LinkedIn and for the time being, save it in a folder for social media scheduling.

11.00 AM

Now for the fun part – using Google Analytics. By using Google Analytics, I can create social media content based on the identified best-performing blog. By using the existing templates (perhaps try a new design) in Canva to see what strategies I could utilize for the identified best-performing blog.

12.00 PM

I normally always have lunch brought from home, as I try my best to cook and save money. On some occasions, I will go out to get something to eat or team lunches would be provided! Sometimes, other interns are in so I would chat with them. Normally, I would be catching up on the latest Netflix show I am watching whilst I eat lunch.

1.00 PM

Time to begin blog writing! Lillie has a couple options of topics on Trello, which I can choose from. Before writing a draft, I will look up existing blog articles, facts, tips, data, and statistics that could be written in my blog article. This can go on for hours, but I eventually get the hang of it by asking ChatGPT for an outline or use existing blog articles as a reference. However, of course, it will have my creative flair with Fuse’s voice.

3.00 PM

Towards the end of the day I get time to work on projects! Every week I am assigned a different one. It could be related to social media content, competitor analysis, or website design auditing.

4.00 PM

My favorite part – social media scheduling! Once I have all my content approved by Lillie, I can schedule it onto the website and social media platforms. To upload blogs onto the Advice Hub, I ensure that the headline suits SEO and search for a suitable featured image in the marketing folder or on Getty Images. Copy and paste the writing, change the formatting, and read it one more time! For social media, I use Canva to organize the Instagram layout and eventually move into scheduling to get creative with the captions.

5.00 PM

I make sure to have everything that I had on my agenda for the day completed and ready for Lillie to review. I have my own Trello board to refer to that tells me what I am still doing so then the next day I can refer to it. I tidy up my desk, then say goodbye to everyone before heading off to the train station.

6.30 PM

I get to my station and then drive back home. Automatically greeted by family and my cats (sometimes, the cats are waiting for me at the door!). I like to have some time with my cats and sisters, catch up with them and kickback before I cook and eat dinner. We would talk and play games together. Sometimes, I would meet up with other friends for dinner, but otherwise, I always end up having a quiet night catching up on my shows, texting friends, scrolling through TikTok, and, of course, preparing my lunch for the next day of the internship.

9.00 PM

I shower and do my skincare after (always!). To wind down, I like to be on calls with friends, go through social media, and stay up to date.

10.00 PM

I finally get in bed at 10 pm but do not fall asleep until midnight. My cats would sometimes join me in my room, so I would play with them and eventually they would get tired and sleep on my bed. By then, I am knocked out.
