Please comment on your role and day-to-day responsibilities.
Overall, I feel satisfied with my day-to-day responsibilities. However, the work can be very repetitive, and sometimes not appropriate for my level of experience (i.e. very basic administrative tasks that would be more suited for a student, or on the other end, tasks that are too complex and large for a graduate).
Graduate, Perth - 09 Feb 2024
My day-to-day responsibilities included flora and fauna monitoring, water sampling, data entry/ collation, report writing and more depending on the priority tasks of the day. Most days include a mixture of office tasks and field work which I enjoyed.
Intern, Perth - 08 Feb 2024
My role at IGO was dynamic and engaging, requiring me to take on various daily responsibilities. From collaborating with different teams on projects to contributing to the day-to-day operations, my tasks spanned across various IT areas, providing me with a holistic understanding of the organisation's IT operation. As an intern, I had the opportunity to rotate through teams, including Service Desk, Cybersecurity, Mine Site IT Technician, Infrastructure, and Data Analysis. This rotation allowed me to contribute to diverse projects and provided a comprehensive view of the company's operations and the technologies employed. Overall, my day-to-day responsibilities were rewarding, contributing significantly to my professional development.

Given a good mix of day to day jobs and longer term projects. Felt supported to ask for help but still given the freedom to learn for myself/not micromanaged.

As an intern, I spend a week working in each sector of the processing department - every day and week is different. However, as a future metallurgist my days would consist of preparing daily processing reports and metallurgical accounting to track the processing plant's performance, ROM stocks, trucking shedules. Additionally, daily operating strategies, problem solving and short-term improvement projects are the main metallurgical duties I have performed while working at IGO.

Highly varied and impactful as I get to work on high level projects that provide meaningful input. Unfortunately, as I am only able to be impactful on a few projects I spend a decent bit of time waiting for emails and doing independent research and find myself a little underutilized.
