I will be in the 'grad' level for about 12-18 months, before progressing to a level 1.

As a grad starting out here at IR I don't think I have the best knowledge to answers this as of now, but my manager has definitely been vocal and making an emphasis on career direction and CV building. This includes pathways to your goals and jobs of interest as well as the certifications and work experience that IR can offer to help.

I am a graduate, so I haven't been promoted yet. However, they are definitely trying to give you the work experience and skills to progress you to a senior policy analyst position.

You are encouraged to create a development plan which in my experience is largely self-led, but my manager is really receptive to any requests I have. For example, you identify area's you want to progress on, and there are resources to help you, or courses you can go on. Alternatively, your manager can (without bounds) shift your work into that area or suggest how you can develop certain skills.

Excellent career progression. Not only do you have the opportunity to move to higher levels as a policy advisor, but there is also opportunities to work in multiple different Minister's offices, or to be seconded to other agencies to work on particular work streams.

There are recruitment rounds to be promoted here. They are very transparent about the process and how it works. As a grad, I don't really have experience with this yet.
