Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
Our learning development coordinator has well facilitated many informal and formal training courses/sessions. We have both inhouse and external training courses that help build our technical tax knowledge and wider policy skills.

At IRD I have been encouraged to work towards many certifications relating to the area of work I am focusing on for example while working with PowerBI I was able to get my PowerBI Certification where I would spend around 1 hour a day working towards it. The skills I have picked up working here include a lot of technical skills such as working with a lot of power apps and APIs but also have been better with engaging with people outside my team which has been encouraged a lot.

Good broad induction week when we first started. Lots of opportunities for courses. A lot of the courses are on the parliamentary process, the tax system, and the policymaking process. A lot of knowledge base courses.

There is a formal internal graduate programme which consists of the initial induction, policy technical sessions (introducing various policy topics), action groups (discussing topics as a graduate cohort), buddy and mentor systems. There is are also plenty of external courses that you go on. For example, I have gone on GST courses, enviro economics courses, policy to legislation courses, etc.

Continual trainig and learning. I have developed a good knowledge and acquired some skills through my role. I am sure I will acquire much more knowledge and skills in the future.

Training is excellent. We are given mentors from multiple different stages in their careers meaning we have differing levels of experience to lean on when needed. We are entered in to many courses which help to give a strong overview of the tax system. We also have the opportunity to register for courses if we believe that they will help our development. All forms of learning and development, whether that be social, formal, oral, written etc. are given significant importance at IR. Not just for graduates but for advisors of all levels.
