There has to be the positions to move through the ranks and people don't leave often then there is high demand for the jobs but it is achievable.

It's about taking on more responsibilities rather than direct promotions.

Attitude and willingness to learn is key. As a growth focused company sales experience provides the quickest way through the ranks.

I have had 2 promotions within a year and now I am at a national level. They reward hard work.

I am currently trying to progress into an Account Management role, however I know that I still require further training in getting myself ready for the role and the transition. I am hoping that by the end of the year I can progress into the next step in my career.

There are endless roles popping up on our internal intranet as they promote from within. If you build your network across the brands and show initiative and capability you will also sometimes be approached directly for roles that are not advertised.

Opportunities will always present themselves if you've put in the effort which is really positive.

Recruitment from within is core to Mainfreight's culture. I'll never forget what our Managing Director, Don Braid said at a conference at the start of the year: "When I retire, all Mainfreight should have to do is hire one bright new team member to work in our operation somewhere in the world and everyone else should be ready to take on their next challenge and put their hand up for the next role". I see this in action every day at Mainfreight. We constantly look to grow our own talent rather than looking to the outside for senior positions. It's much easier to teach skills than it is to teach culture and personality.

There are plenty of opportunities to move forward and if not there is always room to create new roles. You have to be willing to show that you will do the hard yards with a smile on your face.
