I think my previous team was a unique case, with both the personality and team structure contributing to a very close relationship with my supervisor and superiors. They are highly accessible, actively make time for me, are excellent mentors, and gave quality feedback.

Managers re busy people with deadlines to meet. I find that in the small time you get with them, they have some good advice and are friendly. It is still a bit of a stretch to say they know everything and would be great to have one on one coffee and chats once in a while to break down any barriers and to get to know each other as well.
