I still do not have a very clear idea of what to come as I started very recently but it will come with time when I'm more used to the program.

The prospect for career advancement is real in this program. More than 85% of program participants go on to move into higher positions within the Government straight out of the program. A good portion of my current team are former Policy Futures graduates, and they hold positions ranging from a pay grade above my own into junior executive positions. It's not unusual to jump a pay grade or two straight out of the program. Most importantly you don't have to pull crazy hours for years on end to get a promotion.

It is dependent on team and department, but I was able to move to a Senior Policy Officer role within 6 months of being at my current department. Graduates are able to apply across all agencies, and as the program is highly regarded my peers have been able to access higher roles as soon as they sought them out.

Jobs and promotions are advertised through internal job portals and all applicants must go through the same panel interview process

I am still very new to this program, having only been in for around 2 months but I do know that most people in the program find promotions through the program or connections they make during their rotations.

There is a lot of opportunity to find higher-level work very quickly. The promotion prospects are fantastic through the (sub-managerial) ranks. Very good salary increases as you move up.

There are a lot of opportunities. On the grad program you can undertake higher duties for a short period of time, and you are likely to receive good job offers. It can be stressful having no guaranteed position at the end of the program however the program opens so many doors and provides you the opportunity to choose where you would like to end up.

It seems like the graduate program is well regarded within the public service and it is very easy to progress. Managers also seem very willing to support staff in any way they can, even after they have left the team.

Quite easy to apply for higher duties. I moved from an A03 to an A06 after 1 year.
