Culture at Powerlink Queensland

7.4
7.4 rating for Culture, based on 19 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Departments seem to work well and cooperate amongst themselves. Happy mood but without being distracting. Everyone takes their work seriously and we are all very busy company wide. Across the departments there is lack of communication which can cause stress. After work hours people tend to catch up for drinks once in a while.

Everyone is very friendly, and welcoming. I have made good relationships during my short time here.

The culture in the team is based on results. Consequently there is not often a lot of socialising happening. Furthermore, there is little focus on development as work and presentation of results take precedent.

There are a lot of good and bad things about the culture of this company, but I believe it is heading generally to the right direction. The management seems to be willing to reflect and listen to good advice.

Team is focussed on output with less consideration for development. There is some formal cooperation between teams but it is heavily reliant on the individual to bridge the gap themselves.

Although I don't participate in after-hours company culture, I know that there are always activities on offer. During office hours, I regularly go for coffee with my coworkers and occasionally go out for lunch. Every team I've rotated with have been more than welcoming and have always been there to offer support.

Socialising is really easy, everyone is generally kind to anyone. I feel like there are no workplace politics or gossip taking place, everyone takes everyone at face value and keeps working as a team.

People are very friendly and helpful. Not too much socialising outside of work hours in most teams.

Powerlink is quite laid-back, considering a lot of employees are parents. The company offers generous leave to those with families, the ability to work from home whenever (dependent on your Team Leader), and opportunities to work for other teams as temporary secondment. Powerlink is very hierarchal, and some things can't be done without having connections to elevate problems to higher levels. There's Team Leader, Manager, General Manager, Executive General Manager, Chief Exectutive / Board.

The culture is very friendly and open. While there is a hierarchy everyone feels equal. It really feels like everyone is part of a team, working together to achieve a common goal. There are plenty of opportunities to engage with colleagues outside of work hours. VRC is an awesome initiative.

Some teams like Project Management have an active after hours culture, while the Design team has better in office culture. I have noticed that people with a similar disposition gravitate to teams that suit them best.
