What does a Structural graduate do?

Graduate Buildings Structural Engineers' day-to-day tasks could include:

  • Carrying out site investigations, and feasibility studies for proposed projects
  • Developing computational models to analyse and assess the structural behaviour of new and existing structures
  • The design of structures across numerous material types such as Concrete, Steel and Timber
  • The production of calculations, specifications, and drawings to ensure that technical designs provide appropriate solutions
  • Contribution to structural design requirements from Concept through to Construction phases of project delivery
  • Support specific projects by assisting with document coordination and report writing
  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary design approach, liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Including Other Engineers, Clients, Architects and Contractors

Graduate Transport Structural Engineers' day-to-day tasks could include: 

  • Gaining experience in a variety of structural engineering fields, including bridges, civil structures, asset management and marine structures
  • Participating in the delivery of projects and ensuring work output is of a technically high standard
  • Developing effective solutions with specialists across a broad range of disciplines
  • Developing and growing towards your career objectives

Graduate Water Structural Engineers' day-to-day tasks could include:

  • Developing experience in dealing with a range of clients and stakeholders including local authorities, government bodies and commercial companies
  • Prioritising workloads whilst maintaining strong and trusting working relationships with our clients and colleague's both locally and across the broader Stantec team
  • Work with remote teams to deliver projects to local clients
  • Working from other offices

About You

You'll need a Structural Engineering degree; however, your personal attributes are just as important. You will be committed to improving the world we live in, seize the environmental challenges that we all face and come up with solutions that will benefit generations to come. As a graduate, you will be driven to achieve, have demonstrated personal leadership qualities and thrive in an environment where you are challenged and expected to learn, grow and drive the future of our client service, technical delivery, and project outcomes.

These full-time positions would suit students currently completing the final year of their degree or recent graduates with 1-2 years of experience
