Application Process & Interviews at Stantec Australia

Don't remember the process too much. For myself I had a connection in the company in another department so for me was just the one interview and coming in for a week to experience the company before joining full time.

The interview process was smooth but I went around the standard hiring process. The grad competencies seem a little overkill but somewhat reasonable

The interview process was pretty straight forward - application, phone interviews and a face to face.

It was really good interview process and it went up 1 hour.

The interview process was great. I had an interview with Fiona, Natasha and Peter from BC3045. I felt at ease the whole time and they were so genuine and kind throughout the whole process. Onboarding, recruitment and HR were so lovely and helpful throughout my journey.

I was hired through referral so can't say about the usual process.

Very open communications during the interview. Everything was explained clearly. It was mix of friendly and professional, which is great from the point of view of a graduate.

I applied online with resume / CV and had a fairly standard in-person interview and discussion.

An initial assessment which was filled out online. After the initial assessment, there were two interviews, one in-person (with a small exercise that I could prepare for beforehand) and one online.

I was recruited over 2 years ago and cannot clearly remember things too much. Interviewers were friendly, included a phone interview and an in-person interview with a panel of 3. In person interview involved going through a list of set questions reflecting different qualities of interviewee, phone interview was relatively causal.

Had two interviews. interviewing panel was very supportive.

I don't know what the interview process is, I don't know who to forward CV's to, I would assume there is a group email address but it is not readily available. I know there is an employee reference bonus but that is for jobs advertised on the job portal but there are other roles like undergraduate programs that are not advertised for example. Forwarding CVs for opportunities that are presented would be beneficial but is not exactly catered for.

I was hired under Cardno while they were still transitioning to Stantec. The hiring process was smooth and efficient. I like that they didn't make me jump through hoops or take any unnecessary tests, which is actually quite common here in the Philippines. I don't like it when I have to submit my CV more than once or type it in manually onto some system, so I'm glad I didn't have to do that here when I was applying. The recruiter was also very professional and responsive.

Initially CV review and talk with HR. Followed by Video interview - comfortable interview process for about 45 - 50 minutes. Interviewees made sure they understood my area of interest.

I had a very relaxed intake; I was offered an internship which developed into a graduate position

I didn't have an interview I got the contact of someone in the Water team who passed me onto a Team Leader who I discussed an Undergrad role with.

The interview was short and brief. The questions asked were very open and brief which made me feel comfortable during the interview.

My experience and knowledge and what pathway I was interested in taking in the future. Whether I would be happy working in particular fields. I was given a few examples to work through to test my knowledge and thought process

What my passions were, what experience i had in the industry, what I would bring to a team, what am I looking to do in my future career.

About my background, previous employments, how am I apply my knowledge to my role?

They were very straightforward and didn't ask me any of the usual HR questions like "What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?" so I was a bit surprised because I prepared for the traditional HR questions haha. They asked questions like this: - What is your work experience? - What software are you familiar with? - What projects did you work on in the past? - What kind of soil was present in those projects? - Can you tell us more about your thesis? - More questions related to my thesis - Are you okay with working from home? - What grade did you get in the CE board exam? - What was your previous salary? - What are your salary expectations?

Equal amounts of technical and non-technical questions relevant to field of application.

I spoke on the phone with the team leader who asked about my interests in Engineering and what I am looking for as part of the undergrad role regarding project exposure.

Previous work experience Academic related questions

It's mostly about you .How enthusiastic you are, Will you be a right fit for team etc.

The questions were generally not technical, which may be expected for a graduate role, and were more focused on interest in the transport engineering field, character and approach to work (e.g. working in teams, how you meet deadlines).

Scenario related questions assessing how applicant performs in different situations. A mix of technical questions - likely dependent who interviewer is, I was faced with transport and was questioned on the steps to build a road. I've heard colleagues being asked in stormwater design if a pit is overflowing, what are the possible reasons.

Be relaxed and look into the company and what they do, particularly the department you're applying for. Ask questions and show you're curious and demonstrate your soft skills

Look up the role you are applying to and find out some information of what they would be tasked with. Go on linkd in and look at some of the employees and their experience to get a feel of what they do.

Be honest with what you are looking for, ask questions about what the day in the life of a consultant may look like. Having a willingness to learn and grow and be adaptable to your environment will stand you in better stead than having a whole list of non-transferable skills. Bringing a good energy and positive attitude to the team will likely land you a job over someone with lots of experience but no teamwork skills or social skills. This is specific to the Environmental Rehab team as we do a substantial amount of field work with only two people who go away together for anything from 4-15 days at a time, so it is so important to have someone who will be easy to get along with in a social setting.

The company hires based on personality and good culture fit so show off your personality rather than just your previous experience

Just be yourself and be sure of why you want to work in a particular role or sector.

Practice good communication skills

Be friendly, curious and open.

Be yourself, be present, and show that you are interested and keen to learn. As a graduate/undergrad the company doesn't expect you to know everything, and they will invest in you to become a better engineer. So, the main thing the employers are looking for is that you are interested and willing to learn and try new things.

Be specific during the interview and study more into what kind of work they do and how you can assist in their work and provide results.

Be knowledegable in the area you are applying for.

Know a bit about what the company does - Be interested and curious about the field that you are applying for - Be prepared to sell some of your best skills and attributes

Understand the role and company background you're applying for.

Having relevant experience will make you stand out more and go further in the application process, however, given the volume of applications, the people in the final round are usually of similar competency and it will end up being a cultural fit assessment at that point.
