About you

The TasWater Graduate Program requires applicants to have graduated with an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree between February 1st, 2023 and August 1st, 2025 (or be expecting to graduate within that timeframe). Additionally, successful candidates must possess valid working rights in Australia for a minimum of two years from the program's start date.

Training, development & rotations

The TasWater Graduate Program offers graduates the opportunity to directly influence Tasmania's future by shaping its essential water and sewerage services. Participants will tackle critical issues impacting the state's health, environment, and communities, applying their academic knowledge to real-world challenges.

This two-year program fosters both personal and professional growth through a structured approach. Graduates will gain valuable professional skills and technical expertise through three eight-month rotations across different areas of the business, ultimately preparing them for a successful future career.

Some highlights of the program:

  • Professional development sessions on personal brand, social intelligence and critical thinking
  • A business challenge group project
  • Shadowing the executive team between each rotation
  • During each rotation, you’ll receive coaching and guidance from subject matter experts
  • You’ll also benefit from having a buddy in your first year and then mentoring a new grad in your second year
  • Collaborate with industry professionals to forge connections and networks that will last a lifetime
  • Open to undergraduates from all disciplines, including science, business, commerce, law, IT, and engineering

Career progression

The TasWater Graduate Program incorporates rotations across various departments, exposing participants to different facets of the organization. This comprehensive experience allows graduates to identify their areas of passion and career aspirations.

In the final rotation, the Talent Acquisition team provides dedicated sessions to equip graduates for success. These sessions guide participants through the process of applying for open positions within TasWater, facilitating a smooth transition into their chosen career path.

How to apply

Upon application, please include the following:

  • Applicants must register for their webinar and submit their application
  • Applicants must submit their resume, academic transcript, and a three-minute video introduction. The video is an opportunity to showcase unique experiences and perspectives, not solely academic achievements. To create the video, applicants will need a private YouTube account and will share the URL within their application.
  • Shortlisted candidates will then progress to a later stage consisting of a take-home assignment, followed by a 30-minute evaluation. This evaluation includes a 10-minute presentation to a panel and a subsequent formal interview.
