I wake up and get ready to go to work. Work is not too far from my place, but I need some extra time in the morning for a shower.

8.30 AM

Luckily my pharmacy is located in CBD and there are heaps of bus routes available in the morning (pretty much any bus is going to the city).

9.20 AM

It’s a rainy day. Most of the shops are closed at this time and I like to feel the early morning vibe of the mall before I start my shift.

9.30 AM

Yes! It’s time to kick off my shift. I arrive at work and say hello to everyone. Today, I am working with one pharmacist and two to three pharmacy assistants. After unpacking my stuff, I wear my coat and talk to the pharmacist to catch up with the dispensary. It seems like there was no drama in the morning! So I get myself prepared for the daily tasks. The first thing of the day is checking the diary on a dispensing program. This is one of the essential ways of communicating among dispensary team members, and it seems like there is nothing to follow up on from the weekend.

From this point, I mainly serve customers/patients for their product requests and dispense their scripts - don’t forget to get them checked by the pharmacist!

Picking up a phone call in between tasks can be tough, but I do my best to help as many people as possible. I like helping people.

11.00 AM

Some patients keep their scripts with us on a file, and they place an order through the application. I fill the script from their file and put them on the shelf for pickup.

12.00 PM

We got the delivery from the supplier (every day is Christmas). Usually, multiple drivers come at different times, but this is the main delivery time. We get a lot of everything such as shampoo, makeup, medications and so on. I need to find the box for dispensary medication and put them away on the shelves. Also, I got the special ordered medications that we ordered for patients. I gotta give them a call.

2.00 PM

It’s lunchtime! The best thing to work in the city is that there are many good lunch places nearby. I choose... Curry today! I love curry because it’s tasty, affordable, and easy to eat.

2.30 PM

Lunchtime went so fast. I do stocktake for dangerous drugs today. I check the safe and the count on medications should be matched with the program on the PC.

4.00 PM

A couple came in for a flu vaccine. Not many people get a flu jab in January, but some people need it for their purpose. I go through all the safety questions together and give them a flu shot in a counselling room.

5.00 PM

My shift is almost over. My one last thing of the day is a daily dispensary order. I bring up the pre-filled template on the program and order. It’s very important to send them before the cutoff time, otherwise, we are not getting the medicines tomorrow.

5.30 PM

Yay! Finally, my first shift of the week is done. Now I go to the grocery store and get some snacks.

6.00 PM

My girlfriend and I go to a Chinese hotpot place for dinner and have dessert in the city.

10.00 PM

After I come back home, I prepare to go to bed. I like watching YouTube and Twitch before going to bed.

11.30 PM

Sleep time!
