It’s never been a better time to kickstart a career in water and we’re thrilled to open our applications for the Urban Utilities two-year UrbanGrad Graduate Program commencing in early February 2025.

We are focused on challenging conventional engineering boundaries that connect back to our customers and community. At least that’s the experience of Lydia Wright, 2024 UrbanGrad, who is “So grateful to be able to go out to the site and engage with people on the front line, or in the labs, and see the reach Urban Utilities has across the community.”

UrbanGrad is an enriching two-year graduate program jam-packed with opportunities for you to utilise all the hard work and dedication you’ve put into your degree and genuinely contribute to making a REAL difference in the lives of our customers and communities.

We have opportunities available for engineering graduates across a range of disciplines, including:

  • Environmental
  • Mechanical
  • Civil & Structural
  • Chemical & Process
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls

We are inviting applications from:

  • Influencers and innovators who display tenacity and are willing to challenge the status quo.
  • Sustainability-minded individuals who are committed to a greener future for our customers and communities.
  • Self-starters who bring enthusiasm and a growth mindset to achieve amazing outcomes.
  • Natural collaborators who enjoy meaningfully connecting with others to achieve amazing outcomes.
  • Digitally savvy and skilled problem solvers who are curious to learn from others.

Why join the UrbanGrad Program?

UrbanGrad is a two-year program that provides you with an environment to truly connect your skills with your purpose. The opportunity unlocks a world of possibilities by offering four rotations across Urban Utilities' diverse business groups that will see you exploring and contributing to a range of essential programs that connect back to our purpose – to Enrich Quality of Life.

You’ll access an increasingly diverse range of benefits and initiatives that include:

A dedicated Mentor who will support your career development navigating the UU landscape and planning for your future beyond the UrbanGrad Program.

A culture of continuous learning and capability development where you will be encouraged and empowered to be the best version of U. This includes generous study assistance.

Flexibility at UU depends on the type of work you do but you will have access to flexible start and finish times to support a healthy and sustainable work-life balance.

15 days personal leave including three days leave to focus on your wellbeing and connect with your family, friends, and community.

What’s it like to be an UrbanGrad?

Check out this video or hear from Tifhany McGeary, 2024 UrbanGrad, about her experience with her tight-knit graduate cohort:

“We’re besties! It helps that we’re empowered to know we’re not competing with each other – so it’s nice to work in parallel, holding each other’s hands when needed.”

Still curious to learn more? Come and visit us on August 9th at the QUT Engineering & Construction Careers Fair where we can connect face to face and tell you more about Urban Utilities!
