Your role

As a Transport Advisory intern at Urbis, you won't be a passive observer – you'll actively contribute to complex and meaningful projects that shape the urban landscape. Working with the accomplished team at Urbis, you'll gain invaluable insights and make a tangible impact on real-world initiatives. The student roles provide the flexibility of working 2 - 4 days per week, allowing you to seamlessly integrate your internship with your studies.

The Transport team at Urbis is a group of dedicated professionals who work on shaping efficient and sustainable transport systems across Australia. They provide a range of services including transport planning, traffic impact assessments, transport modelling, and policy advice. Their work spans various types of projects, from local transport schemes to large-scale infrastructure developments. With a deep understanding of transport dynamics and regulatory environments, the team provides strategic advice to clients, helping them navigate the complexities of transport planning and policy.

As an intern in the Transport Advisory team, you will:

  • Play a key role in providing assistance on a diverse range of services, including advice on various aspects of transport planning, multimodal solutions, travel demand forecasting, transport system impacts, master plans, land use/transport interaction, and traffic impacts of developments
  • Assist the team in the delivery of strategic transport advisory projects and other national initiatives
  • Provide support to the Transport Advisory team in servicing client requirements
  • Collaborate with a team of talented professionals from different disciplines, working on a variety of engaging and multidisciplinary projects

The year-long Student Internship Program, running from February to December 2025, will enable you to graduate with the distinct advantage of industry experience over your peers

About you

This program will be suitable for those who will be undertaking tertiary studies in a relevant field in 2024, and have a combination of the following competencies and qualifications:

  • Currently undertaking a tertiary degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or other relevant degree
  • Passionate, hardworking and a great fit for our spirited, collaborative culture at Urbis
  • Can communicate with confidence and in a responsive manner, both written and verbally
  • Proven skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Beneficial to have skills in AutoCAD and other relevant transport software (such as SIDRA, MicroStation and others)

Please Note: you must have valid working rights in Australia and be studying throughout the internship to be eligible for the program.
