Your role

As an Urban Design intern at Urbis, you won't be a passive observer – you'll actively contribute to complex and meaningful projects that shape the urban landscape. Working within the accomplished team at Urbis, you'll gain invaluable insights and make a tangible impact on real-world initiatives. Their student roles provide the flexibility of working 2 - 4 days per week, allowing you to seamlessly integrate your internship with your studies.

The Urban Design team at Urbis is a group of innovative professionals dedicated to shaping the future of cities and communities across Australia. They work on a wide range of projects, from small-scale precincts to large urban developments. Their services include strategic planning, design conceptualisation, public space design, and master planning. With a deep understanding of the interplay between the built environment, social dynamics, and sustainability, the team creates urban designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, sustainable, and conducive to vibrant community life.

As an intern in the Urban Design team, you will:

  • Assist in visually communicating key design outcomes through the use of freehand or computer-aided programs such as CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and Revit
  • Contribute to a variety of services, including site analysis, council approval processes, illustrative plan production, design and documentation for place-making projects
  • Support the development of proposals and tenders for potential clients and projects
  • Play an active role in sourcing and curating imagery that aligns with the vision of the projects
  • Gain experience across a wide range of project types, including individual sites, broad-acre greenfield developments, inner-city urban regeneration, transport and infrastructure, retail, open space parklands, waterfronts, commercial developments, and town centres
