Interview with 2 of the partners and then a week trial.

The interview process was extremely relaxed and I felt comfortable the entire time. Although I was initially nervous meeting with the managing partner, they made the experience really easy to have a conversation and I never felt overwhelmed or worried that I'd answered incorrectly.

Casual/informal interview with 2 workgroup partners.

I applied through the online portal on the w/r/g website and was contacted for an interview roughly about a month later. I was interviewed by two of the partners who's workgroups the graduate position was in.

After submitting my application, an interview was arranged between myself, the managing partner, and my prospective workgroup partner. During the interview I was asked a range of questions regarding my work experience and education.

The interview process involved putting in my resume at the firm (through an employment agency) and then receiving a phone call asking me to come in for an interview.

I met with the partner in charge of the sector I would be working in and the managing partner of the company and discussed what they expected and what I can bring to the role

I applied to wrg by sending my resume to the managing partner. I then attended an interview with the managing partner and the partner for my potential workgroup. Around one week after the interview I was offered a position at wrg.

I firstly had an interview with the Managing Partner of the firm to assess my suitability for a period of Work Experience. I undertook a period of this and once completed, applied for the Graduate Position starting the following year. I then sat a second interview with the Managing Partner and another Partner of the firm before I was then offered the position. The firm also undertakes yearly performance reviews as a way to monitor your progress and discuss your ongoing strengths and weaknesses.

Questions about work/life balance and why I wanted to go into law.

In my interview I was asked questions about why I chose to study law, any career goals I had, my interests outside of work, recent job experience and why I chose to apply for a job with the firm.

The questions in my interview included what areas of law I was interested in, whether I was prepared to stay in Townsville for work, what I imagined the next 5 years to be like for me and whether I had any questions about life at wrg.

I was asked questions regarding my professional goals, my strengths and weaknesses, my personal life, my interests and hobbies, my values, etc.

Try your best not to be shy, be comfortable and relaxed.

Know your stuff. Having a background about the firm and what they stand for and/or provide helps answer the questions and makes you look well prepared. As they say, if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

Your success in practice is not informed entirely by your academic performance in university. If you are able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, a commitment to ongoing professional development, and a willingness to learn, you will do well.

Be yourself. Read what our firm is about and what we value and how you will add to that.

I would recommend just being yourself at the interview and not worrying about your experience. Being a graduate can be very intimidating when you lack experience in the law. No one is expecting you to be an expert in your field, they are more worried about whether you are the right fit for the team.

Be professional in all aspects of the application process - first impressions are everything.

Be a fast learner. Absorb everything you are told. Be prepared to work long hours. Ask your supervisor why you are completing certain tasks, the how will come easier this way. Try to be as much of an independent work as quickly as possible.
