Making a difference

Are you ready to make a real impact in the world? Alluvium is the place for graduates who want to tackle some of our biggest problems associated with natural and built environments.

We believe the application of creative thinking, applied economics, robust science and practical engineering can effectively address complex and interrelated threats to our natural environment.  We influence and lead best practice policy strategy science and engineering.

We have always trod a path that is different, we are fiercely independent and our people come together with a shared vision and determination to effect positive change. The value of our work is measured in our capacity to make a difference in the world we live in.

We're looking for engineers and scientists from July 2024. If you are a civil or environmental engineer or an environmental scientist passionate about the environment, you'll fit in well at Alluvium. With the work that we do, graduates in environmental law, environmental policy and environmental management majors will be considered too.

In this intake, we're looking for people who have recently completed their studies or will finish by end of 2024.  Many of our graduates are from Masters degrees, but we will consider people with great grades from their undergraduate degree.

Alluvium is where entering the world of work starts and when we say you can choose your own path, we mean it. Focus areas for graduates include:

  • Environmental science and engineering
  • River health engineering, science and management
  • Coastal management and geomorphology
  • Data and spatial science
  • Hydraulic and hydrological modelling
  • Environmental policy and strategy
  • Program evaluation
  • First Nations science and strategy
  • Urban water management.

Sounds good so far, but why Alluvium?

Our values as a business are aligned with your values. We are a certified BCorp, operate as a carbon neutral business and are actively committed to reconciliation through our Reconciliation Action Plan and other initiatives.

We are a multi award winning business and regularly win industry awards in our technical areas.  Notably we also win national accolades in innovation and professional services.

But the best reason is that we are a great place to work. We are high ranking in Australia's Great Place to Work listing and one of the few professional services listed as 'best place to work for women', which tells you a lot about our business.

I'm keen, what next?

If you're ready to go this year, then this program is for you.

We’ll provide you with relevant professional training and provide ongoing feedback from your coach to guide you throughout your program, with the chance to learn from and work with industry professionals across the firm.

Sit down and seriously consider what kind of work would make you engaged, interested, and satisfied if you had to do it every day. Think about the kinds of people you want to be surrounded by. Do they have the same core values as you? Deep down, do they care about the big-picture stuff in a similar or complementary way to you? This is so important!

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to know what you want to do once you finish university. Take time to travel – reflect, reset, and experience new things. I believe if you are passionate about sustainability and the environment the best thing to do is to enroll in an environment-related university degree.
