Cultural & Linguistic Diversity at Toowoomba Regional Council

Toowoomba Regional Council’s is committed to providing a workplace that acknowledges, embraces and encourages workplace diversity and inclusion.

In order to achieve greater diversity and inclusion throughout the workforce, TRC will:

  • apply diversity and inclusion principles to guide our decisions and behaviour, particularly when demonstrating leadership and vision;
  • ensure diversity and inclusion principles are included in key projects, programs and initiatives, such as inclusive recruitment systems, talent management processes and offering equal access to learning and development opportunities;
  • implement programs and policies which address barriers to diversity in the workplace (such as corporate communication strategies, access to flexible working arrangements), and review these to ensure that they are available to, and used by, people of different gender, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, disabilities and ages;
  • fund these programs appropriately and monitor the effectiveness of, and continue to expand on, existing initiatives designed to identify, support and develop a talented workforce from a diverse range of backgrounds;
  • identify and promote opportunities to acknowledge or celebrate diversity and inclusion in the workplace; 
  • observe all relevant laws in this area.
