Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders at Siemens Australia

We know technology shapes the future, so we're using our skills and resources to support First Nations communities and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. Our vision is an Australia where Siemens partners with First Nations leaders and organizations to create opportunities, bridge societal gaps, and build a fair community for all. This means equal access to technology for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and a diverse, inclusive workplace that is culturally safe and proud.

Our global sustainability framework, DEGREE, supports all stakeholders – customers, suppliers, investors, employees, societies, and our planet. A key part of this is our contribution to people and society. We've been in Australia for over 150 years, always striving for diversity, inclusion, and community development to create belonging. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a commitment to our DEGREE framework through meaningful actions for the present and future.

At Siemens, we acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners of the land we operate on and the communities we serve. We have a duty to our workforce and Australian communities to contribute to reconciliation. Through this RAP, we hope to enrich our Siemens workplace with a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and history in Australia. Our RAPs are developed by our RAP Working Group and championed by our CEO.

To contribute to reconciliation in Australia, we commit to:

  • Building long-term relationships: We seek to collaborate with and foster genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within our team, our customer and supplier networks and most importantly, in our local communities.
  • Regular reporting and reviews: We report on RAP progress regularly, ensuring accountability and meaningful progress.  We also regularly review our own processes and systems to ensure that they are meeting the needs of those in our workplace and community.
  • Business representation in the RAP Working Group: Our RAP Working Group includes members from across the business, ensuring company-wide commitment to reconciliation and employee involvement in achieving our goals.
  • Education and Training: We commit to provide ongoing education and training to our employees to increase their cultural awareness and understanding of First Nations peoples and cultures.

We acknowledge that reconciliation in Australia is a journey, and we are committed to continue to develop genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to ensure our workplace is a culturally safe and proud space for all.
